Winter’s Arrival…

Really love hiking in the snow – even if it is only a dusting!  My husband and I went for a hike on Friday, and these pictures were taken on our property, here in Watauga County, NC.  We feel very fortunate to be able to walk out our back door, and explore this beautiful “wilderness”…!

First Day of 2014…

Dave and I went hiking at Roan Mountain on New Year’s Day.  Although the weather was quite cool, we had an incredible experience and gained new perspectives to begin 2014.  Neither one of us had ever been before, and we agreed that the top of a mountain was the best way to start the new year!  This was a perfect spot for a hike and picnic, which proved to be a spectacular vantage point…

“Pale Blue Dot” Perspective…

Awesome video!  Really makes you think about what is most important…

Virginia Creeper Trail…

My family and I went biking yesterday on the Creeper Trail.  The weather was supposed to be 5o degrees and sunny, but was quite chilly and cloudy.  Despite the weather, we had a great time riding up and down the snow-covered trails.  We made a day of it and rode from Damascus to the top and back down, which was 34 miles in total.  Actually, can’t think of a better way to spend the last Saturday of 2013!
